Devasathan (Brahmin Shrines)
The Devasathan of Bangkok was established in the
same time peried with the founding of the Rattanakosin Kingdom.
Both the Devasathan and the Giant Swing have been registered as
the important national archaeological site, as published in the 66
th
Volume of the Government Gazette, part 64 on page 5280-5281,
dated November 22, 1949. The Devasathan that were registerd as
the archaeological site are, Brahmin Shrines, Giant Swing, Ishvara
Sanctum, the Vishnu Sanctum, the Ganesh Sanctum and the Vedas
Building. This Gazette registration includes the images of the Gods
in each sanctum.
Important Images
Images are categorized into 3 main groups.

First Group: The main Hindu Gods in three sanctums:
Ishvara in the Sanctum of Ishvara, Ganesh in the Sanctum of Ganesh
and Narayana, Lukshmi and Maheshvari in the Sanctum of Narayana.
Second Group: The Hindu God images in smaller
size. These images are invited to be installed for important royal
ceremonies, such as in the Ploughing Ceremony at Sanam Luang.
They are situated at the pedestal in the Ishvara Sanctum.
Third Group: The image in small size and are meant
to be transported for installment in provincial religious ceremonies.
They are enshrined in the Vedas Building along with the miniature
set of the Navagraha or the Nine Celestial or Imperial Stars. The set
of Navagraha are to be installed in the important royal ceremonies
of the Coronation and the Royal Birthdays Celebrations.
