Origin: The Brahman and the Brahmins
Brahmin-Hinduism is the only religion in which no one has
been born to become a leader or prophet for the propagation and preaching
of its doctrine to mankind. It has a God or Deity called the “Brahman” as the
Creative Principle. The antiquity of the religion cannot really be known, but
with speculation from writing in the sacred Vedic texts, its age appears to be
more than 5,000 years old. In the sacred Vedas, “Brahman,” as the Force of
Creation, founded the earth and then it was ended, and began again. The cycles
of creation and destruction happened alternately for so long that one cannot
calculate into which numerical order our earth-universe falls.
In the beginning, this belief was called, “Sanatana
Dharma,”meaning the eternal body. It refers to ‘Vishnu’; another name for
Brahmin-Hinduism is ‘Vishnudharm/Vishnudharmottara,’or the teachings of
Vishnu. Thousands of year afterward, it was called “Vedic Dharma.”
Then, thousands of year later, the religion was given the new
name, ‘Arya Dharma,’ which means to prosper with sacred customs and
traditions, before being named the ‘Brahman Dharma’ in another phase,
thousands of years later. In spite of its many different names, the original
essence of the religion still remains the same.
