Muslims have integrated into the Thai mainstream society seamlessly,
without segregating themselves from Thai culture. They have taken part in national
development and enjoy mutual understanding and respect from other religious
backgrounds and ethnic groups, thus, live in Thailand in harmony and peace. At present,
Muslims are located in many regions of Thailand, namely:
The South, in many provinces -- especially Yala, Pattani, Narathiwas, and
Satun -- majority of population are Muslims. It has been such a way since the early year
of Islam propagation in Thailand.
The Central, around inner Bangkok -- Muslim communities are dispersed widely
across the two banks of Chao Phraya River. Many live in the suburban areas of Bangkok,
along main canals, including Khlong Saen Saep extending from Pratunam Loie (Loie Water
Gate) to Chachoengsao province. In North metropolitan area, the Muslim communities are
around Pathumthani and Tha-It areas, Bang Talat, Bang Bua Thong, Sai Noi in Nonthaburi
and Bang Khen. To the south, Muslims reside in Pak Lat, Phra Pradaeng, Thung Khru.
In the east, Bang Nam Priew of Chachoengsao is the primary location for inhabitancy.
