Additionally, archaeological evidence shows that Mahayana Buddhism and
Brahmin-Hindu play important roles in Dvaravati society, though not as obvious or extensive as
those from Theravada Buddhism. Archaeological evidences which were found are, for example,
stucco of Bodhisattva founded in Khu Bua Ancient Town, Ratchaburi province, Thamorat Cave
Rock, near Sri Thep Ancient Town, Petchaboon province.
In South of Thailand, around 8 -13 Century period, there was evidence showing

the practice of Mahayana Buddhism among people in so-called "Srivijaya" culture. Many
religious place and artifacts were found scattered around the Chaiya District of Surat Thani
Province, along the peninsular area and around many islands in Indonesia. Some of the artifacts
are sculptures of Bodhisattava Avalokiteshvara, Statue of Bodhisattava Padmapani, Statue of
