The Protestant Church in Thailand consists of many smaller denominations.
The first were established permanently in the reign of King Rama III in 1828. Many groups
of missionaries came primarily from England, Germany and United States of America. They
belonged to different denominations, such as, the London Missionary Society, the American
Presbyterian, the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, the American Baptist
and the Anglican Church, etc. In 1934, a group of Protestant missionaries formed a Christian
Council, called “the Church of Christ in Thailand” in order to make an authentic local church for
the native people. Later, many other missionaries from other diverse congregations came. They
formed three more councils: the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand, the Baptist Convention,
and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
At present, there are four Christian Councils of the Protestants that are accredited
