Religious Places and Religious Objects 2
In Buddhism, important religious place are Wat or temple, important object are
Buddha statue. The “Four Holy Places” of Buddhism, which are associated with the life and teaching
of the great Master, include Lumbini: the birthplace, Bodh Gaya: the place of Enlightenment,
Isipathana (Sarnath): where he delivered his first teaching, and Kusinara: the place of Nirvana.
Religious Places
Wat is a Buddhist temple where Bhikkhus and Samanera (or Novitiate) reside or
stay during the Buddhist Lent and perform their daily routines such as morning and evening
chanting, and performing religious rites and ceremonies -- like tripple circumambulation and
meditation, etc -- in auspicious religious days. Wat is also the center where local Buddhists in
each area gather together doing some activities -- like making merit in Buddha Holy Day -- to
enhance the Buddhism.
“Veluvana” in Rajagaha, built by King Bimbisara of Magadha, is the first monastery
in Buddhism. “Jetavana” located outside the city of Savatthi, was the place where the Buddha
gave the majority of his teachings and discourses, and stayed during the Buddhist Lent 19 out
of 45 vassa, more than any other monastery.

Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram people in many ways. For examples, Wat is a place where local festivals and events were hold.
2. Buddist Monastery at Khao Kong, It is an educational place where local families sent their young sons to become novice monks,
Narathiwat Province and learn to read and write. Also, Wat is cultural center where national fine arts are collected.
